Arguments against truth-based theories of meaning
Truth-conditional theories of meaning assert that meaning is a function in the conditions that define truth. But, this theory restricts significance to the language phenomena. A Davidson argument basically argues that truth-values are not always true. Thus, we must be able differentiate between truth and flat statement.
It is the Epistemic Determination Argument attempts to prove the truthfulness of theories of meaning. It relies on two essential assumptions: the existence of all non-linguistic facts and understanding of the truth condition. However, Daniel Cohnitz has argued against these assumptions. Therefore, this argument does not hold any weight.
Another concern that people have with these theories is their implausibility of the concept of. But, this issue is dealt with by the mentalist approach. The meaning is examined in words of a mental representation rather than the intended meaning. For instance one person could use different meanings of the identical word when the same person is using the same words in both contexts, however, the meanings and meanings of those words could be identical depending on the context in which the speaker is using the same phrase in various contexts.

Although most theories of meaning try to explain the significance in terms of mental content, other theories are sometimes explored. This could be due to the skepticism towards mentalist theories. It is also possible that they are pursued from those that believe that mental representation must be examined in terms of linguistic representation.

While Grice is correct that speaker-meaning is more fundamental than sentence-meanings, there is still room for debate. The distinction is vital to the naturalistic recognition of nonnatural meaning. Grice's objective is to offer naturalistic explanations that explain such a non-natural meaning.

To understand a message, we must understand the intent of the speaker, and this intention is an intricate embedding of intents and beliefs. We rarely draw sophisticated inferences about mental states in simple exchanges. Consequently, Grice's analysis of meaning of the speaker is not compatible with the actual psychological processes involved in communication.
While Grice's story of speaker-meaning is a plausible explanation how the system works, it's not complete. Others, such as Bennett, Loar, and Schiffer, have provided more specific explanations. These explanations reduce the credibility and validity of Gricean theory, since they consider communication to be a rational activity. In essence, the audience is able to believe what a speaker means because they understand the speaker's intent.
Furthermore, it doesn't take into account all kinds of speech acts. Grice's theory also fails to recognize that speech acts can be used to clarify the significance of sentences. This means that the nature of a sentence has been reduced to what the speaker is saying about it.

Problems with Tarski's semantic theories of truth
While Tarski suggested that sentences are truth bearers, this doesn't mean that the sentence has to always be truthful. He instead attempted to define what is "true" in a specific context. His theory has since become an integral part of modern logic and is classified as a correspondence or deflationary.
One problem with the notion of reality is the fact that it can't be applied to a natural language. This is due to Tarski's undefinability principle, which says that no bivalent language can have its own true predicate. While English could be seen as an one of the exceptions to this rule but this is in no way inconsistent the view of Tarski that natural languages are semantically closed.
Yet, Tarski leaves many implicit limitations on his theory. For example the theory cannot contain false sentences or instances of form T. This means that it must avoid this Liar paradox. Another issue with Tarski's concept is that it's not as logical as the work of traditional philosophers. Furthermore, it's unable to describe each and every case of truth in traditional sense. This is a major issue for any theory about truth.

The other issue is that Tarski's definition calls for the use of concepts which are drawn from syntax and set theory. They are not suitable when considering infinite languages. Henkin's style of speaking is well-established, however, it doesn't support Tarski's definition of truth.
Truth as defined by Tarski is also an issue because it fails account for the complexity of the truth. For instance, truth can't be predicate in the context of an interpretation theory and Tarski's definition of truth cannot clarify the meaning of primitives. Furthermore, his definitions of truth is not compatible with the concept of truth in interpretation theories.
However, these issues should not hinder Tarski from applying the truth definition he gives, and it doesn't meet the definition of'satisfaction. Problems with Grice's analysis of sentence-meaning
The problems with Grice's understanding on sentence meaning can be summed up in two main points. First, the intentions of the speaker must be understood.
